Why do I get an error message on the Deploy page of the Administrator when deploying the client?

If you receive an error message from the Deploy page in the RepliGo Server Administrator, check the following:

  • Make sure MDS is running and enabled on your BES.
  • In the BlackBerry Manager, make sure you enable the “Set as Mobile Data Service Push Server” menu item (if it is available) on BES 4.0, or the “Set as Push Server” in the Connection Service tab on BES 4.1.
  • In the BlackBerry Manager, set the “Push Authentication” to False under “Connection Service > Edit Properties > Access Control”
  • Check the Mobile Data Service Properties in BES 4.0, or with BES 4.1 under “Connection Service > Edit Properties > General” to verify the “Web Server Listen Port” matches your setting in the “BES/MDS Port” field of the Deploy page in RepliGo Server Administrator.
  • If RepliGo Server is installed on a different machine than BES, be sure the “BES/MDS Server” field has the host name of your BES server and not your RepliGo Server.
  • If RepliGo Server is installed on a different machine than BES, it needs to be able to communicate with MDS on the aforementioned port to send a deployment message.  Be sure there are no network configuration issues between the machines such as IP filters or firewalls.

RepliGo Server sends the deployment message to the device by using the MDS web server.  The MDS Web Server Listen Port as described above must be available to MDS for this to succeed.  The default port value of 8080 used by MDS is sometimes used by other processes, so there is potentially a port conflict.  You can check to see the MDS web server is operating correctly by pointing a web browser at the BES/MDS server:

http://bes-mds-server:8080/

Where you replace “bes-mds-server” with the hostname for your BES server.  The result should be a web page that looks like the screenshot below.  If some other web page appears, or if there is no response, then it is likely some other process is interfering with the MDS web server, and you will need to diagnose this problem before the deployment feature will work.
