Why do I get a "Download Failed" message on the device when deploying the RepliGo Client?

While deploying the RepliGo client to a device, if you have successfully opened the deployment message and are prompted to download the application, you may see a “Download Failed” message, with a Details window that explains it was a “907 Invalid JAR” error.

In this situation, you may have a BES configuration that prevents BlackBerry applications from being installed on the device because of its associated content type (rather than for IT policy reasons).

Configuration Change

Check the BES setting found at this location: BlackBerry Manager > BlackBerry Domain > Global > Edit Properties > Media Content > Media Content Types.  If there are any items in the Media Content Types field, you will have to study them to see if any of their associated patterns will prevent the content type application/vnd.rim.cod from being transferred to the device.

To disable the restriction, either remove the media content type from the list, or set its “Disallow content” field to False.  Note that changes to these settings affect the global operation of MDS.  You will need to understand the purpose of these settings, to allow RepliGo Server to operate and maintain any security restrictions necessary for your network.

Restart the BlackBerry MDS Connection Service to put the new settings into effect, and you will be able to open RepliGo documents.
